At the time of (re)writing this schedule, it appears to be in accordance with the CURRENT UIL/TEA guidelines.
Please understand a few things:
1. We are directly influenced by the UIL/TEA organizations. What they say, goes.
2. If we are at school, we are having band! If we are all online...we will have band!
3. If marching contests are being hosted, we WILL attend!
4. If football season continues, we WILL be playing at them!
5. WE ARE THE LARGEST STUDENT ORGANIZATION ON CAMPUS. If there's one mishap, 50+ students are affected. We will either be an example of success or failure, and FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION! ALL PRECAUTIONS ARE FOR THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE INVOLVED, as well as the longevity of the program!
AND FINALLY, I know this is not the schedule, or season that we all wanted, but we have not been fully shut down yet. We will use this time together as best we can. There will be days where everything is unexpectedly shut down. That's okay. There will be constant cancellations. That's okay. There will be people missing left and right. That's okay.
Our primary objective is not what happens at contest, but having fun being able to make music together again.

Until we are allowed to return in full “normal” classes, we are aiming to limit the amount of people in the Band Hall to ALWAYS be 15 people or less. Face Masks will be required ONLY WHEN occupancy is above 15 people (full band rehearsals, changing classes, etc.)! With our new assistant’s help, we will have split rehearsals as often as possible to minimize class sizes. (obviously if we are playing our instruments, yOu CaN’t WeAr A mAsK.) If for some reason you are able to wear that lovely marching uniform for 6 hours on a Texas, Summer, sweltering Friday night, but are unable to wear a mask, then you MUST keep a 6 ft. distance at all times. Masks will be available to those in need of one.
Note: I loathe wearing a mask, and this is not something other organizations will ask of you. However, WE ARE THE LARGEST STUDENT ORGANIZATION ON CAMPUS, which means we have to be extra careful in preventing, containing, and tracing the virus. More people = more risks! More people = more people affected!
August 20 First day of school (This is a THURSDAY!!!)
Please be very flexible! The dates on this schedule should be final, but the times are subject to change.
The playing and marching rehearsals are subject to change due to weather, progress, or at the discretion of the directors.
Please wear appropriate footwear/clothing to ALL events. Shorts must be fingertip length. Tank tops may be worn, but no spaghetti straps. Shirts must go to the top of your shorts with hands raised. Tennis/athletic shoes and socks must be worn at all times. Please do not wear converse, toms/bobs, or any other “athletic” shoe that does not have good arch support. Students wearing flip-flops, sandals, or any other shoe deemed inappropriate will NOT be permitted to participate.
If you are unable to make it to a rehearsal, please let the director know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! This includes conflicts with jobs, athletics, or other extra-curricular activities. Any non-emergency related absences with less than a week’s notice will be marked “unexcused” and may result in the loss of a spot in the marching or participation points.

COVID19 Guidelines
We will actively monitor students and staff to ensure that social distancing is in effect. If you feel that you may have contracted the virus, or have come into contact with someone who has, STAY AT HOME until cleared to return by a medical professional.
Face masks are not mandatory(*), but are highly encouraged at Full Band rehearsals. Chairs and stands will be placed at specific distances apart from each other. DO NOT MOVE THEM. ALL STUDENTS SHOULD DISINFECT THEIR MOUTHPIECES AT LEAST EVERY OTHER DAY! There will be hand-sanitizer and mouthpiece disinfectant at all rehearsals. DO NOT PLAY AN INSTRUMENT THAT IS NOT YOURS!
We will be actively screening students daily to ensure the safety of all. ALL STUDENTS should avoid any unnecessary physical contact, even if it is consensual. If we would like to return to normal, it is important we do all we can to prevent the spread of the virus.
These guidelines are administered by UIL and TEA. We will adapt as they allow.
After school rehearsals during the school year will be:
Monday Last Period Ends - 5:30pm
Tuesday Last Period Ends - 5:30pm
Wednesday (Brass/Percussion Sectional) Last Period Ends - 5:30pm
Thursday (Woodwind Sectional) Last Period Ends - 5:30pm
AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSALS ARE STILL PENDING UIL/TEA GUIDANCE
THEY WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT AT THE START OF SCHOOL
We appreciate your cooperation!
